Day 1
Meeting at your hotel and transfer to Volterra. Visit of the city with your guide, looking for the many testimonies of Etruscan and Roman civilizations, the Roman Theatre of Vallebuona, the acropolis, the necropolis, the medieval historical centre with its imposing surrounding walls, Piazza dei Priori, and the view on the impressive “Balze” (Crags) landscape around. We’ll visit the many workshops, in which alabaster is shaped in the old artisan ways. Lunch of your own choice, and free time to visit the Museums and the Art Gallery.
We’ll dine in a typical tavern and then check into a B&B (breakfast included)
Day 2
Meeting with your guide and then transfer to the Monterotondo M.mo-Sasso Pisano area. We’ll have a chance to observe the most interesting naturalistic aspects of geothermal phenomena so common in this area. After lunch, we’ll visit Castelnuovo Val di Cecina, with its pine-cone-shaped “borgo” perched on the hill. Then we’ll move to Montecastelli Pisano, and enjoy the quiet atmosphere of another place which still follows the rhythms of nature and seasons.
Dinner in a typical tavern and checking into a farm holiday (breakfast included).
Day 3
We’ll leave for the spectacular San Galgano Abbey and the Montesiepi Hermitage, where one can see Saint Galgano’s sword thrust deep into the rock. Dinner on your own and plenty of time to enjoy one of the most magical and charming places in the whole of Tuscany.
Return to the farm holiday and dinner.
Day 4
Visit to the “borghi” of Radicondoli and Belforte, deep in the wonderful Siennese contryside.
Dinner in a typical tavern and free time.
